World Water Day, held on March 22, is an annual United Nations Observance coordinated by UN-Water to emphasize on the importance of water. To support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal(SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030, it is also the day to advocate the public for sustainable management of freshwater resources.
WWF (World Wildlife Fund) has warned that at the current water consumption rate, by 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population may face water shortages. And last year (2021), Taiwan has suffered the worst drought in 56 years, which led to reduced water supply, restricted water usage, cessation of farming and closure of business operations in many areas. Water saving is a matter of social responsibility which admits of no delay.
In response to the observance, CORUM is committed to integrating ESG into its business operations including strengthening sustainable management of water resources and diminishing environmental impact put by production waste. It is also hoped through the post that more people will join the action by inventing, applying and sharing creative ideas to save water. Let’s together act now and make the world a better place.
